Canaan, Indiana - Lila June Tufts, 74, of Canaan, IN, formerly of Sanger, CA, passed away peacefully at 1:10 a.m.(EST), Tuesday, December 24, 2024 in Louisville, KY. She was born in Sanger, California on June 22, 1950, the daughter of Gordon William and Lillian Beatrice (Stark) Alcorn. She is survived by three daughters: Deanna (Brent) Berry of Pismo Beach, CA,Shelley (Chris) Yakligian of Kingsburg, CA andJennifer (Heins) Spredemann of Pleasant Township, IN; 13 grandchildren: Charley (Jobany), Emily, John, Luke, Hallie, Evan, Brandi (James), Josiah, Hope (Ethan), Hayden (Heather), Carson, Jonah and Stephen; three brothers Grandville (Edith) Alcorn, Wayne (Kathy) Alcorn, and Ivan Alcorn all of Sanger; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law Harlan Hal Harris, nephew William Robert Alcorn, former husband Charles James Tufts and her sister Gail Claudette Harris. Ms. Tufts was a 1969 graduate of Sanger High School. After raising her daughters while operating her in-home daycare for 20 years, she received her Bachelors Degree in education from Fresno State University, where she worked as a preschool teacher. She enjoyed traveling, baking & cooking, sewing, crafting and reading. Lila worshipped her Lord and Saviour at the Hope Baptist Church in Dillsboro, IN. Graveside services for Lila will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Cemetery followed by a celebration of life luncheon at Hope Baptist Church.
