Elma Oberla Obituary

Darien and Delavan, WI - Elma L. (Truckenbrod) Oberla, (Nee Vesper) age 104 years. Lifelong resident of Darien andDelavan. Passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at her residence in Delavan.

Elma was born on April 14, 1920 in Beloit, WI and was adopted by the late August and Margaret (Ridell) Vesper. Elma married Donald Truckenbrod on July 2, 1942 and he preceded her in death on September 6, 1975. She then married Paul Oberla on January 2, 1977 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2008. Elma worked on the family farm for 33 years and was a long-time driver and volunteer for the Walworth R.S.V.P, Our Redeemer Choir and Handbell Choir, Ladies Aide. She won many ribbons at the Walworth County Fair and earned the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award from the Walworth County Fair. She loved to play sheepshead, cribbage and crochet and belonged to the Knit-wit club.

Elma is survived by her children, Judy Edwardson, Karen Archer, Dean (Lori) Truckenbrod and Dennis (Marlys) Truckenbrod, step children Ron Oberla, Carole (Jack) Barry and Janet (Kevin) Simons. Grandchildren Lee (Julie), Kim (John), Shane, Ryan, Jessica, Tania (Tanner), Nathan (Sasha), Logan (Samantha), Holly, Justin (Maria), Neil, Dana, Evan and Sean. Great Grandmother of Chase, Andrew, Anya, Kieran, Evan, Logan, Rebeccah, Brooklyn, Gabriel, Bianca, Xander, Weston, Laika, Rowan, Caban, Christopher, Zoe and many friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Husbands Donald Truckenbrod and Paul Oberla, son-in-law's Richard Edwardson and William Archer.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 10-11am with Funeral Service at 11am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (416 W. Geneva Street, Delavan, WI 53115). Interment Darien Cemetery.
