Charlene Wyman Obituary

Charlene Callahan Wyman, age 79, after many years of challenging illnesses, left to begin her promised eternal life on October 30, 2024,in Ashburn Virginia; peacefully, in her home, with her loving husband of 56 years by her side.  Born on July 25, 1945, to John Thomas and Jean Elizabeth Callahan (née Sullivan), Charlene was a devoted wife to husband Peter and loving mother to SONS John and Patrick.  As an FBI wife, in the early years she shepherded her sons and household through numerous relocations, each time settling them smoothly into their new surroundings.  Later she worked as a Realtor in Northern Virginia for over 25 years, receiving many professional honors and being greatly admired by clients and colleagues alike throughout that community for her professionalism, business ethics, competence, dedication, and diligence.  Charlene loved deeply, thought first of others, was a loyal friend, had a contagious sense of humor, and most enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren for “Nana shops,” baking of Rolo pretzels at Christmas, laughing with the little ones and sharing earnest conversations with them as they matured.  She never, ever complained.

Charlene is survived by her husband, Peter; her children, John and Patrick and their wives Nikki and Katie; her sisters, Joyce and Margaret “Peggy”; and her four beloved grandchildren, Kelly, Blake, Callahan “Cal” and Brogan. Charlene will be sorely missed, but the joy of having shared her life on earth and the firm belief that she is celebrating and being celebrated in life eternal will console those who knew and loved her.

Charlene was one of the loveliest people I ever knew. During our high school days at Seton Catholic High School (Class of 1963) in Endicott, NY, we were such great friends. In recent years, we talked on the phone at least twice a year A few months ago, she told me, “Frank, I’m fading and just don’t know how much time I have” Heaven has been joined with such a loving friend!

I will terribly miss my friend and neighbor, Charlene. I will miss her caring and thoughtful and kind and gentle ways. She was a beautiful lady inside and out, a strong...strong and courageous lady who, even though she was experiencing difficult health situations in her own life through the years, she always made time to give words of wisdom and encouragement and hope to me and to others. I look back over these many years and see God's love and care and compassion reflected in and through Charlene. She has touched so many people's lives. I will miss and never forget the talks she and I shared. May the good LORD bless and be with and comfort Pete and John and Patrick and their families as well as all of Charlene's family and friends who love her.

Charlene was a brilliant Realtor and an outstanding negotiator! She so capably led us through the purchase of our first home as newlyweds in 1998. When we happily outgrew that house, we called Charlene again! She found us the perfect family home where we still reside-now empty nesters-22 years later. Keeping her beloved family in our daily prayers.

So sad, it doesn't seem real...
Char was our leader, the one that cleared the path... She was the first: To be Born, Go on Dates, Drive a Car, Graduate from High School, Go to College, Get Married, Move away, Have Kids and for all of us "Sullivan Cousins" she was our first best Friend. Every Holiday, Every Birthday we all were together. Even after Decades of not seeing her she never changed. always super loving and gracious. Even married a great guy, who was also loving and gracious just like Char. They both treated Helen and I like we were their best friends..

She will always be remembered.
