William Stott Obituary

William G. DeRosa Stott

November 22, 1943 - October 21, 2024

AUBURN - William G. DeRosa Stott, 80, of Auburn, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at Auburn Community Hospital. He was born in Auburn, NY on November 22, 1943, to the late Mildred (Tripiciano) Jones and Frank DeRosa.

William "Bill" grew up in Paterson, NJ where he was raised with his mother and step father, Don Jones, two sisters, Donna and Kathy. He was an Alter Boy at St. Stephens Church, married, started his family and forged many lifelong friendships there. He returned to Auburn, NY in the 1970's.

Bill loved living the country life, hunting, raising small animals, growing large gardens and caring for his pets. He also enjoyed camping, collecting antiquities, riding motorcycles and repairing small engines. Most of all he loved visiting with family, friends and long lost relatives.

Bill held many jobs throughout his career. He was as Store Manager at Topps, owned and operated an Arnold Bread route, was employed for many years as a machinist at McQuay International, and most recently worked at the NYS DOT Maintenance Department. He also volunteered at Holy Family Church.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Craig) Cheetham; sisters: Donna (Terrance) Quill, Kathy (Ray) Campagna; brother, Lynn Frank DeRosa; and sister, Candice DeRosa Lucas (Michael); many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His extended family and friends will all miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his former spouse, Barbara Stott, and daughter, Bonnie Jean Stott.

In honoring his love for animals, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY, 46 York St., Auburn, NY 13021.

Bill was a good man. We worked many years together at mcQuay. I just ran into Bill in the pet food aisle at Walmart recently. We had a few laughs and talked for quite awhile. Rest in peace my friend.
