JONESBOROUGH - Donald A. Reaves, 93, Jonesborough, passed away Thursday at Community Living Center at James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Mr. Reaves was born April 27, 1931, in Greeneville to the late Orbra and Essie I. Jennings Reaves.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Jennie Bennett Reaves; sisters: Velma Estep and Tee Honeycutt; a niece: Wilma Gouge; and son-in-law: Eddie Valentine.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
Mr. Reaves was of the Christian faith and believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He was a carpenter, brick mason, and farmer. He enjoyed baseball, softball, golf, bowling and playing cards but most of all loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include two daughters: Darla Valentine (Terry Archer) and Diane (Jean-Claude) Seruga; a son: David (Tina) Reaves of Jonesborough; granddaughters: Ashlea (Dillon) Stout, and Emily Reaves; step-grandchildren: Emily Seruga and Stephan Seruga; several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law; special friends: Jimmy and Beverly Adams; and caregiver: Patty Hardin.
The family expresses a special thank you to Veterans Affairs Community Living Center Staff for their wonderful care.
Graveside services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Eden-Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Bryan Orchard and Pastor Chad Williams officiating.
A Celebration of Life will follow at Greenwood Ruritan. If friends would like to go in procession to cemetery, please meet at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home at 12:15 p.m.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
