ELIZABETHTON - Ruthann Shelton-Huck, 75, passed away peacefully at home in Elizabethton with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.
Ruthann was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Fred "Doc" Mace and Ruth Orlando Mace. After high school Ruthann went into the U.S. Navy and began her life of adventures. Ruthann's travels took her from San Francisco, San Diego, Memphis, Jacksonville, Florida and London England over the span of 30 years. Ruthann received several metals of conduct during her career.
Ruthann loved to travel and play bingo. Ruthann's life was full of adventures, she was very proud of the fact she was a Navy Veteran of 30 years and told anyone who would listen.
Ruthann was preceded in death by her parents: Fred and Ruth Mace; one brother: David Mace Sr.; her first husband: Dennis Shelton who passed in 2021; and then her husband at his death in 2022: Errol Huck Sr.
Ruthann leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law: Sarah and Lee Steele of Elizabethton; a stepson: Errol Huck Jr. and wife, Jill, of Raymond, Nebraska; one brother and sister-in-law: Don and Janie Mace of Kingston, Texas; three sisters and brother-in-laws: Kay and Jay Harpel of Pittsburg, Texas, Jolene and Lee Chapin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Elizabeth Sanders of Anchorage, Alaska; grandsons: Logan And Deana Tarlton, and Sage atarlton of Chuckey Cooper Huck of Raymond; a granddaughter: Hannah Huck of Raymond. Ruthann had the blessing of meeting her great-grandkids: Ave Grace Tarlton and Owen Carson Tarlton. She was a very proud grandma and great-grandma to all the little ones. She had several nieces and nephews also.
Her final burial services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City.
Disable American Veterans Chapter No. 39 will be at the service for full military honors.
