Thelma Marie Mooney Babb, 83, of Mosheim, passed away peacefully Saturday at Laughlin Healthcare of Greeneville with her family by her side.
She was a kind and thoughtful person, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother. She was a precious lady and a friend to many.
She was retired from Hurd Lock and Manufacturing Company. She was born in Hawkins County.
She was a member of McCloud Baptist Church, Hawkins County.
Her family moved to Greene County in her early years. She attended Mosheim Church of God as long as her health permitted.
Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 64 years: Cecil Ray Babb Sr.; a daughter: Sheena Jones; sons and a daughter-in-love: Ray, Jr. and Louise Babb, and Kevin Babb, all of Mosheim; her "little angels" as she lovingly referred to them, granddaughters and a spouse: Niki and Jeremy Harmon of Anchorage, Alaska, and Amanda Hensley of Greene County; grandsons and their spouses: William Lance and Miranda Babb, Chris Babb, Cloyce Jones, Jeremy and Sheena Jones, all of Greene County, and Caleb and Krysta Babb of Bonneau, South Carolina; great-granddaughters and a spouse: Alexis and Thomas Parisi, Joslynn Johnson, and Kaylee Johnson, all of Anchorage, Olivia Babb, Emmie Babb, Ruby Jones, and Laiken Jones, all of Greene County, and Lilly Babb of Bonneau; great-grandsons: Fisher Holdway, Landon Babb, and Walker Babb, all of Greene County, and Ethan Babb of Bonneau; one great-great-grandson: Giovanni Parisi of Anchorage; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bobby and Sandra Babb of Greeneville, Ken and Nancy Babb of Rome, Georgia, and Joe West of Morristown; a host of nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Mark and Esther Mooney; a brother: James Robert Mooney Sr.; sisters: Mary Alice Carpenter and Georgia Lee West; five infant brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law: Kevin Jones.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the Fourth West nurses and staff at Greeneville Community Hospital, the nurses and staff at Laughlin Healthcare Center, the staff of Amedisys Health Care, and the staff at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home for taking such good care of our Mom.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and from noon until 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel.
Burial will follow in Doty's Chapel Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Hale and Pastor Dwayne Steele will officiate.
Pallbearers will include William Lance Babb, Chris Babb, Caleb Babb, Tim Babb, Michael Babb, and James West.
