Dorothy Jones Obituary

Dorothy Julia (Champa) Jones, 95, of Farmington died peacefully on September 24, 2023 after a brief illness. This January her home was filled with family and friends celebrating her 95th birthday and a lifetime of memories. She remained full of energy and humor and was happiest in the company of her family.

She worked at Stanley Works Magic Door division for 18 years. In her retirement she enjoyed crafting, vacations with her husband Ted and road trips with her sisters to Florida, Las Vegas, and California.

The family is grateful to her daughter Cindy for the phenomenal care she took of Dorothy, giving us many more years to enjoy with "Grammy." We will forever remember the two of them at the kitchen table cooking pierogi, tomato sauce, apple pies, and big holiday dinners from scratch. She loved her African violets, bluebirds, old "cowboy" shows and her golden retrievers. Dorothy was the backbone of her family, listening and laughing, and exemplifying strength and steadiness.

She is survived by a brother Thomas of Canton; son Richard Jones and his wife Michele of Bristol, two daughters, Linda Moran and her husband Tom of Collinsville, and Cynthia Jones of Farmington; six grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew, Rick, Ryan and Brandon; and four great grandchildren Elijah, Summer, Skyla and Sienna. In addition she leaves her stepson Dan Jones and his family. She was predeceased by husband Ted; sisters Evelyn, Irene, and Catherine; brother Walter; and granddaughter Jennifer. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main Street, Unionville on Sunday, October 1, from 3-5pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 2 at 10am at The Ahern Funeral Home followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington.
