Francis Miele Obituary

Francis Joseph Miele of East Hartford, CT, beloved husband for 52 years, of the late Lucille G. Miele of East Hartford, CT, peacefully passed away at Saint Francis hospital in Hartford, CT on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Born August 23, 1946, in Springfield, MA, son of Fortunata "Florence" and Salvatore "Sam" Miele, he attended Manchester High School and graduated in the class of 1964. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Airforce where he served, before being honorably discharged. Francis attended business school and worked at The Travelers before transitioning to United Healthcare, where he spent over 30 years of his career working in the Information Technology field. Francis was a long time avid Amateur Radio operator and a leader of the Connecticut D-STAR radio community. He also volunteered to assist with radio communications for events such as the Special Olympics. Francis was a loving husband, father, and friend who will be missed by many. Francis is survived by his significant other, Carol Leone of East Hartford, CT, who spent her time enjoying life with Francis and being by his side as he battled heart and kidney failure during the last years of his life. He is also survived by his son, Scott F. Miele of East Hartford, CT and his significant other, Angie Majewski of East Hartford, CT, his other son, Kevin J. Miele of Oak Point, TX, his spouse, Sheila J. Miele of Oak Point, TX, along with four grandchildren, David Miele of Edmond, OK and his spouse, Allison Miele of Edmond, OK, Ryan Miele of Midwest City, OK, Brianna Miele of Edmond, OK, and Dylan Miele of South Windsor, CT, as well as, one great granddaughter, Leah Simmons of Edmond, OK. He is also survived by his sister, Christine Brainard of Manchester, CT, sister-in-law, Angela Bizeau of ME, along with nieces and a nephew. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association by visiting www.heart.org.
