Dennis Hass, 77, of Startown, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at his residence.

Born November 23, 1946, in Newton, NC, he was the son of Glenn and Janie Hass. Following his graduation from Fred T. Foard High School, Dennis answered the call to service in the U.S. Army. Dennis worked as a barber for more than 40 years; however, his true passion was spending time outdoors camping. Backpacking and open-road adventures on his Harley were just a few activities he shared eagerly with those he loved most. He was active with his church family at Christ Church in Mountain View.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Hass.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Patricia Davis Hass, of the home; son, Doug Lowman and wife Lana, of Granite Falls; daughter, Denise Hass, of Newton; grandchildren, Joshua Lowman, of Arlington, TX; Elijah Hass, of Newton; and Brianna Glaspy, of Newton; great-grandchild, Koah Rivera-Hass, of Newton.

A service to celebrate Dennis' life will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. The Doctor Charles Kyker will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., at Bennett Funeral Service.
