Robert "Red" Eggers

Robert "Red" Harrison Eggers, born August 14, 1942, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. A beloved brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Red was known for his warm heart, sense of humor, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.

He is survived by his four children, Michelle Emser, Rodney Eggers (wife, Lindsey), Jason Eggers (wife, Teresa), Christy Dollarhide (husband, Coleman); and a bonus daughter, Kellie Floyd (husband, Al), who carries forward his spirit and values.

Red took great pride in his family with 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, whose lives he enriched with his wisdom and laughter. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Patches; and his loving sisters, Betty, Carolyn (husband, Charlie), Christine; and his twin sister, Barbara (husband, Cary), with whom he shared an especially close bond.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Mary Eggers; and a son, Brian Deal.

Red's impact extended far beyond his family; he was a friend to many and leaves behind a community that will deeply miss his presence as Santa Claus for over 20 years. His generous nature, kind heart, and unwavering support touched countless lives.

The family will receive friends at Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory, NC, on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Bass-Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 10 a.m., followed by a graveside burial at Catawba Memorial Park at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Valle Crucis Community Park or Samaritan's Purse.
