CLARA GLENN Obituary

CLARA GLENN

Aug. 12, 1930 July 22, 2023

Clara (Cuevas) Glenn, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Magnolia, Texas, on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Her youngest daughter, Jane Glenn, was by her side at her passing.

Clara was born on August 12, 1930, in Santa Paula, California. She was the sixth of ten children of Pedro and Maria (Garcia) Cuevas. Clara loved growing up with her large family and was never at a loss to tell a story from her childhood of climbing trees in the backyard orchard, eating her fill of fresh oranges, and playing with her siblings. She laughed at those memories as though they were yesterday, and the music of her laughter will forever be missed.

In 1962, Clara and her former husband, Bill Glenn, Jr., moved the family to El Centro, California, where they raised four children. During her years in the Imperial Valley, Clara forged life-long friendships and lived her Christian faith through service to the church and ministry to those in need in her community and across the border in Mexicali. Clara was very proud of achieving an AA degree in Library Science at Imperial Valley College. With it, Clara went to work for the Imperial Valley School District and retired in 1985.

Clara was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many. She was happiest surrounded by family and friends and was always ready for a 'fiesta'. She was a wonderful cook and, over the years, found great fulfillment and pride in preparing homemade Mexican meals for family and friends, who still comment on her delicious cooking to this day! Clara was a committed Christian and anchored her life in the saving grace of Christ. Her faith informed and animated her life, and through it, she loved boldly and lavished everyone she encountered with her generous spirit of joy and hospitality. She taught her four children well.

Clara is survived by her children, Bill Glenn of Magnolia, Texas; Barbara (Adam) Harrington of Indian River, Michigan; Marcela (Wayne) Karlson of Indian River, Michigan; Jane Glenn of Georgetown, Texas; and her younger brother, Alejandro Cuevas of Concord, California, in addition to 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Words cannot express the loss we feel. She was a friend, a neighbor, a Christian who gave to everyone. Even after she left this area she called often. I miss her much. 'til we meet again, Clara. I will see you on the other side.

Clara was such an inspiration in my life, and a dear friend. I loved her beautiful smile and fun presence. We often worked together at the church kitchen where she was an expert at all she attempted. We studied the Bible together and prayed together. I am a better person because of Clara Glen! See you in heaven friend.
