JONESBORO - Alvie "Marie" Rougeau, 92, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born Dec. 17, 1931, in Shreveport, La., to Ellie Franklin and Mary Cornelia Sanson Pittman.
Marie spent over 30 years as a registered nurse at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, doing work in three temples, and together with her husband, spent 18 months on a church mission to Oregon after retirement. She loved quilting, genealogy, and above all, temple work.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Amos Benjamin Rougeau, a son, Bruce Alan Rougeau, her parents, brothers Andre Wilson Pittman, Winford Rhue Pittman, Kelleth Theodore Pittman Sanson, Paul Franklin Pittman and Jerry Rodney Pittman; and sisters, Shelia Loraine Pittman and Wanda Clorese Pittman.
Those left to cherish the memories of Marie are her loving children, Benjamin Lyle Rougeau and his wife Mary Kathleen Barnes, Barry Amos Rougeau and his wife Yvonne Darlene Sanders, Bruce Alan Rougeau's wife, Bridget Renee Henley, Brent Thorsell Rougeau and his wife Julia Kelly York and Kevin Lemuel Rougeau and his wife Lisa Michelle Mays; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Herold Barry Pittman; and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 301 E. Highland Drive, Jonesboro 72401. Bishop Gutenberg de Lucena will officiate. Visitation will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
A graveside service will be held at noon Wednesday in Hemphill Star Cemetery in Boyce, La.
Arrangements are under the care of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
