Debra (Blain) Bengtson Obituary

Berlin, CT - Debra A. Blain Bengtson of Berlin, CT passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, 3/9/2024, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Hartford on 2/6/1967, Debby grew up in Newington, graduated from NHS and from Tunxis Community College with honors. She worked with many law firms over the years as a legal assistant. She leaves behind her son Damian Blain of Manchester; her husband Emil Bengtson; her parents Barbara (Rogorzenski) and Joseph "Vic" Blain of West Hartford; sister Denise and Tony Drummond, and their children Alex and Megan in PA; brother Douglas and Geraldine Blain, their daughter Shannah and their son Ryan and Elizabeth Blain with their baby Colman, all in VT. She also leaves behind Emil's family; his son Jeremiah and wife Alexis and their children Jayden, Owen and Charlotte, of Newington; his daughter Amanda Peterson and husband Eric and their daughters Lily and Jessa, of Berlin; and his daughter Linda of Newington; extended family and devoted friends Wayne and Agatha Tilford of Newington; Her faithful dog, Gypsy; and all of her brothers & sisters from the D.M.A. Motorcycle Club and the Moose Club in Berlin, where she was a member and bartender for many years. She served with a smile and could break-up a brawl. A force to be reckoned with, she was loved by all who knew her. She loved children, nature, the mountains, the beach, animals, gardening, and collected seashells and rocks everywhere she went. She will be remembered by many as a kind and caring soul that made the world a better place. A celebration of life will be held at Cold Spring Brook Farm in Berlin on Saturday April 20th at 2:00 PM.
