COLUMBIA CITY - Terry Lynn Everly, 64, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away at 7:23 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at Franciscan Health East, Cancer Center in Lafayette.
Born on Dec. 18, 1959, in Columbia City, Indiana, he was the son of Melvin L. and Elenor Jane (Simmons) Everly.
Growing up in Union Township, he completed Coesse Elementary School and graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1978. He continued his education by earning an associate's degree in business administration.
He began working in stone quarries at the age of 18, beginning his life-long career that took him throughout northern Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and Missouri, where he worked in quarry management. He completed his career at Prairie Materials.
On Nov. 2, 1991, he married Marilyn Ann Priest. They made their first home in Bunker Hill, then Bowling Green, Ohio, and Missouri, before moving to Columbia City.
An avid hunter, he liked nothing more than being in the outdoors hunting deer or pheasant. To keep his skills sharp, he enjoyed shooting sports, both target and clays, when hunting was not in season, and adding to his gun collection. Around the home, he was an accomplished woodworker, making furniture and shelving. Turning his skills to generate extra income, he bought and rehabbed houses. He always had a special place in his heart for his many dogs through the years, leaving behind his dog, Jack Flash.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn; his mother, Elenor Jane Everly, of Columbia City; children, Chrissa (Nicholas) Gross, of Leesville, Louisiana, Travis (Lauren) Everly, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Samantha Everly, of Columbia City, Cory (Binbin Guo) Miller, of Chardon, Ohio, and Kyle (Kristie) Miller, of Napoleon, Ohio; grandchildren, Tyler Everly, Ruby Gross, Derek Miller, Avary Miller, Patrick Everly and Emma Everly; and brothers, Brian (Cindy) Everly, of Columbia City and Jerry (Carol) Everly, of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Louis Everly; and sisters, Deborah Martin and Shawn Everly.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
Burial is at Union Township Cemetery at Coesse.
Visitation is from 2-5 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at the funeral home.
