We both were on Active Navy Duty at the same time at the Olathe KS Naval Air Station in the 50s. We lived across the street from them on "Navy Hill". He was an aircraft mechanic and I was a hospital corpsman. Our families had lots of great times together.
His active duty was finished before mine.
On one occasion I helped him salvage a compressor from an old navy blood bank cooler before it went out the door as "junk". He made good use of it for many years on the farm.
He had more Reserve time left after Active Duty and on annual two week training duty "cruises" was able to visit many countries. I treasure those memories of our time together. I wish we could have lived closer in our later years. May he rest in peace.
