Frances Becker Frasier, 87
It is with great sadness that the family of Frances Becker Frasier announces her passing. She left us Nov. 29, 2024, with her husband of 68 years at her side.
Frances was born Aug. 17, 1937, in the old Mercy Hospital in Roseburg, Ore. Daughter of Fredrick Becker and Ethel Krohn Becker, she grew up on her grandfather's farm which is now located on Ponderosa Drive. Her great grandparents were some of the first settlers in the Melrose area, and she was very proud of her pioneer heritage. She was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers; her sponsoring ancestor was John Holman who came to Oregon in 1843. She attended the one-room school at Cleveland Hill, and went to Roseburg High School, graduating in 1955. She was the lead majorette in the Knights of Pythias Girls Drum Corps, participating in many parades throughout western Oregon. One year at the Rose Parade in Portland she was featured on the cover of the Oregon Journal.
Frances married her high school sweetheart, Robert K. Frasier on Aug. 11, 1956. They had three children and later adopted their fourth child. When Robert joined the Oregon State Police in 1963, they moved to Klamath Falls, then a year later moved to Lakeview where they resided until 1984.
In Lakeview, Frances worked for the US Forest Service, and later was a purchasing agent at Lake District Hospital. In 1984, after all the kids had left home, Bob and Frances moved to Philomath. Frances worked at the US Forest Service Science Lab next to OSU. In 1994 they moved to Roseburg, where she was residing at the time of her death.
Frances loved the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, and later venturing into the wilderness on their four wheelers. After retiring, Bob worked 12 seasons on special assignments with the State Police and Frances enjoyed staying in their RV at Fort Stevens, up the North Umpqua, and Cottage Grove, among other places, while Robert patrolled the area. They spent three winters staying warm in Arizona. In her later years, Frances spent her time painting, crocheting, doing embroidery and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; her 4 children: Paul Frasier and his wife, Kori; Susan Frasier; Jody Frasier and his wife Ruth (Bridgemon); and Ann Fleshman; 9 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joyce Conn, and two grandsons: Gregory Allen Frasier and Robert Matthew Frasier. She was laid to rest at the Cleveland Cemetery next to her beloved parents, all four grandparents, two of her great grandparents, and her two grandsons.
