Billie Rockett Obituary

Rockett, Billie Daniel
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Beverly Hills for Billie Daniel Rockett, who died February 4, 2006 at the age of 85 in Santa Monica, California. Born Billie Frances Daniel in Sparta, Tennessee, she was widowed in 1981 after 43 years of marriage to Edward Spencer Rockett, whom she met and married in Louisville, Kentucky. The couple called various cities home during the years Ed Rockett traveled extensively for his work, including Memphis, New Orleans, Kansas City, Los Altos, Pittsburgh and eventually Los Angeles. For some years she devoted her time to homemaking and raising five children. After the age of 40, she elected to enter the business world and enjoyed working in the corporate arena, first for Alcoa during its development of the Century City business park, and later for Sargent Industries. However, it was only after she and Ed retired that she pursued a lifelong goal and began writing for the local newspaper in Bear Valley Springs, California where they built their retirement home. She and Ed were enthusiastic participants in Bear Valley community and church activities. Billie is survived by her five children, Spencer Rockett, Carol Patterson, Elaine Rockett, Mary Hauck and Jill Condley, as well as ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Memorial gifts can be made in her memory to "The One Song Mentoring Program" at Caring Strokes, P.O. Box 1445, Burbank, CA 91507.
