Carol Clark Obituary

June 12, 1937 - March 3, 2025 Carol Jean Clark passed away peacefully at an assisted living home in Palos Verdes after a challenging struggle with Alzheimer's. She was a long-time resident of Pacific Palisades and spent her final days in Palos Verdes after being displaced by the fire.

Carol Jean (CJ) was the daughter of Eugene and Marjorie Lee and was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. She attended Scripps College and transferred to the University of Arizona where she became a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and met her first husband Jim Mitchell. After teaching high school for a few years her entrepreneurial spirit got the best of her, and she set off for new career challenges. First, working at a small boutique in Brentwood and then moving on to Starbuck International, a furniture showroom in the LA Furniture Mart. Ultimately, Carol Jean became the owner of Starbuck where she pursued her passion for interior design and home furnishings while working with her second husband, Ron Clark.

CJ and Ron were enthusiastic UCLA fans and loved attending football and basketball games. Carol Jean's life revolved around family, friends and community. In her early years she enjoyed playing tennis with friends and was involved in helping to organize the Junior League's West Side Racquet Rally. CJ and Ron loved hosting dinner parties and get-togethers with friends at their Bel Air Bay Club cabana. Carol Jean was a doting and loving grandmother, or CeCe as she preferred. Some of her most cherished times were with friends and family at La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club and at Alisal Guest Ranch where she was surrounded by her blended family and everyone she loved.

Carol Jean is survived by her children Steve (Karen), Rob (Maggie) and Annie (Paul) and grandchildren Madison, Carter and Sam and her sister Judy, along with Ron's children and grandchildren. Our immense gratitude goes to her dedicated caregivers, Ferdie and Sebastian for 12 years of love, devotion and care.
