Chris Kozaites Obituary

Chris Lee Kozaites, born September 5th, 1953 in Richland, WA, though a resident of Long Beach, CA for the majority of his life, passed away on August 1st at the age of 69.Chris had many passions in his life riding Harley Davidsons, blues music, shooting billiards, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the loyalty of a good dog (his beagle Sparky being the most recent). He reminisced often about his time in Durango, CO, where he completed his undergraduate studies in Art History. After earning a Juris Doctorate at the Western State College of Law, he developed a keen interest in civic engagement, which led to a longtime relationship volunteering for the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation, and Marine.Perhaps his greatest love, though, was that of the sea. At any given point in time, he could be found boating between Avalon, Pyramid Cove, or off the coast of Baja California, trawling for marlin, or maybe just enjoying the spray of the ocean.Chris is survived by his mother, Marianthi, and his four sons, William, Cory, Derek, and Andrew. He will be laid to rest at Green Hills Memorial Park alongside his Greek grandparents of whom he was so fond. A small ceremony will be held among close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church.
