Barbara Hamilton Proto, 80, of New Haven, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at her home, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfonso Proto. Barbara was born in New Haven on September 4, 1944, a daughter of the late Dewey and Emily Hamilton. She is the loving mother of Alfonse Jay (Lynne) Proto, Richard Proto, Robert (Gina) Proto, Daniel Proto and Amanda (Marvin) Jones. Grandmother of Jay (Ryan) Freitas, Isabella and Lenah Jones. Sister of Mary Savinelli and the late Shirley Boughton and Dewey Hamilton. Prior to her retirement, Barbara worked for Toys "R" Us and U.S. Surgical for many years. Barbara was a special lady with a vivacious personality and a warm, loving heart. She enjoyed time with her family, especially trips and outings. She loved watching her grandchildren, and adored witnessing them grow up. She had a passion for her games and visiting the casino with her friends.
Family and friends may call at the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte, 80), East Haven, FRIDAY, from 5:00-7:00 PM. A Parlor Service will held at 6:00 PM. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org . Sign Barbara's guest book online at www.portofuneralhomes.net .
