Marilyn Watkins Obituary
Born on July 5, 1938, in Climax, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Mae (Horne) Hopper.
She married James C. Watkins on June 29, 1957. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2015.
Bertie was a cook/dietary manager for Edgewood Heights in New Bethlehem.
She is survived by three children, James C. Watkins Jr. and his wife, Carol, of New Bethlehem, Joey Connor and his wife, Carol, of Strattanville and Jodi Shick and her husband, John, of New Bethlehem; daughter-in-law, Carollyn McDonald of Hawthorn; seven grandchildren, Alison Watkins (Jeff), Alex Watkins (Krista), Dan McDonald, Brandy Davis (Chuck Stormer), Jamie McDonald (Billy Joe), Christopher Shick (Amanda) and Joshua Shick (Brianna); 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many adopted children and grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jim, she was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Watkins; and a granddaughter, Trista Watkins.
The family will be receive friends from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Ryver officiating.
