Audrey Ward Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 12 to Nov. 19, 2023.
Audrey Lynne Ward passed away on November 5 at the age of 70. Audrey was a remarkable woman that was born with a genetic defect that caused a lifelong degeneration of her hearing and vision. Those handicaps did not stop her from getting an education, having two sons and being married twice. Audrey will be remembered for her strong spirit and thoughtfulness. She overcame many health hardships throughout her life. In the face of these challenges, she would always send cards with good wishes for many occasions including birthdays, anniversaries and holidays to wish her loved ones well.

Audrey grew up in Huntington Station, NY. She went to college at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in the Rochester Institute of Technology where she met James Harden. A few years later they were married and moved to South Florida where they raised two sons. Audrey and James were married for 20 years. Audrey was very active in the deaf community where she reconnected with and married Harvey Ward.

Audrey is mourned by her sons Howard and Randy Harden, her grandson Sam Harden, her brother Scott Wieder and sister-in-law Joy Wieder, and her sister Maya Marcia Wieder. She is also mourned by her former husbands, James Harden and Harvey Ward.

A memorial service will be held in South Florida. Donations can be made to the Helen Keller National Center for Deaf Blind Youths and Adults where Audrey and one of her sons both studied.
