Barbara (Boyd) Smith Obituary

Barbara L. (Boyd) Smith passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, in Pittsfield, NH, at the age of 92. Born on January 9, 1933, in the same town where she would spend her entire life, Barbara was a cherished member of her community and a loving figure within her extensive family.

Barbara graduated from Pittsfield High School, where she formed many lifelong friendships and laid the foundations for her future. Her life was filled with love and dedication to her family, especially to her husband, Bruce Smith, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years. Together, they enjoyed simple pleasures like dining out, shopping, and long drives. Barbara's home was always a hub of activity and joy, particularly during the holidays, which she loved to celebrate with elaborate decorations.

Known for her exceptional baking skills, Barbara delighted family with beautifully decorated cakes. Her love for cats was well-known; she cared not only for her own pets but also for the neighborhood cats, ensuring they were well-fed and loved.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Smith; children, Michael Drew (Tammy), Pamela Clark (Terry), Melinda Maxfield, Jill Metcalf (Paul), Matthew Smith (Patty), Bruce H. Smith, and Julie Chagnon (Bob). Her legacy also includes many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and William Boyd; sons, Terry Drew and Sheldon Smith; and two grandsons.

While there are no services planned at this time, the family will gather at a later date for a burial and celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Barbara to the Granite VNA hospice, an organization close to her heart. Barbara will be deeply missed by her husband, Bruce and all of her Family.
