Catherine Ann Schmitt (née Reinersman) passed away peacefully at her home on October 4, 2024 at the age of 73. Cathy was the beloved wife of William K. Schmitt, cherished mother of William David Schmitt (Kristen Collett - Schmitt) and Sarah Gillum (Jonathan Barczak), and a devoted grandmother to Tyler Chisenhall, Harper Schmitt, and Hazel Schmitt. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Catherine Reinersman, her brother Steve Reinersman, and her granddaughter Mackenzie Schmitt. A proud alumna of Notre Dame Academy (1969), Thomas More College (1973), and Northern Kentucky University (1981), Cathy dedicated much of her career to elementary education. She spent over 30 years teaching and serving in administrative roles within the Diocese of Covington, touching the lives of countless students. After retiring, Cathy enjoyed traveling, practicing her faith, reading, and spending quality time with her dogs, family, and friends. There will be a Funeral Mass on Monday, October 14 at 5 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, followed by a reception in the Undercroft, to celebrate Cathy’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Mackenzie Taylor Schmitt Foundation at Beacon Health Foundation (https://foundation.beaconhealthsystem.org/give-now/) or the Boone County Public Library Foundation (https://www.bcpl.org/foundation)
