I was shocked to hear of Chris's passing. I knew Chris because I was his landlord for his Identity shop in portsmouth. He was one of the best and nicest tenants I ever had. I always enjoyed chatting with him catching up on things happening in the skateboard industry and his life in general He was truly one of a kind person and I'm sad to hear of his passing. It is certainly appropriate that the new skateboard park in Portsmouth was renamed in his honor. My condolences to the family.

RIP Rice. Rice was my hero. The crew at EB Nashua were my idols. My younger brother and I would go in there any time we could get a ride with anyone, sometimes every day if possible. I was part of the Merrimack crew and Rice helped us by coming to meetings with the town to get a skatepark. We had such a hard time getting one in Merrimack but thankfully to Rice and Earl coming to a few meetings, they helped the town understand why it was important. My brother and I ended up being on the Eastern Boarder team and Rice was our team captain and would send us skateboards after we had to move to Maine. Any time I started to slip and fall off the skateboard wagon, Rice would let me know I needed to skate more and stay away from all the other stuff. We met so many friends through Rice and EB over the years. It was my dream in life to open a skateboard shop and we did around 2002 in Portland Maine called Ride 207(RIP). It was primarily Rice's influence that gave me the confidence to have a skateboard shop and be out going enough to talk to customers. Until the shop I was a complete introvert and didn't really talk to people unless they were my close friends. Rice even got our shop hooked up with Blue Collar Distribution so we could buy grip tape and other accessories. Rice's passing brings back so many memories. This still doesn't seem real. How could this be? Rice was a one of a kind person and will be missed greatly by many. Countless times as a teenager I'd stop in to EB for advice and guidance. Whether it was a trip from Maine to Boston to skate til 2am then back to school the next morning or heading to Rhode Island to sleep in my car and skate the park the next day. I'd always stop in to see Rice, Earl, James and whoever else was around. Those guys did so much for skateboarding, countless demo's and pro's that would come out from all over the country. It made growing up in that time period so awesome. So many memories. My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends. So many things I could write here I wouldn't know where to begin.

So sorry for your loss.
I feel like we´ve all lost our brother.
He exemplified a type of kindness rarely known in this world.
And in this world we were all better for that.

My heart, thoughts and prayers to the Rice family and to all of Chris's loved ones. I have so many fun, funny and some serious memories of this hilarious kid! It's been years since I've seen or talked with Chris, but quite often would run into somebody that we went to school with, and his name was always brought up. May you rest in forever peace with love Jill

How can it be 35 years since I´ve even spoken to him and yet remember him as it was just yesterday. He was always so kind to everyone no matter what `group´ you were in. So sorry to hear of this and for the family´s loss.
