Dulcie Irene Carey, a beloved member of her community, gained her angel wings on April 19, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 90. Born on October 31, 1934, from Nottingham, England, Dulcie carried a piece of her British heritage close to her heart throughout her life. She was an embodiment of kindness and warmth, always ready to extend a cup of tea and engage in a heartfelt conversation with those she met.
Her life was rich with service and dedication. For 8 years, Dulcie volunteered at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where her compassion touched countless lives. A devoted member of St. George's Episcopal Church for 40 years, she found great joy in her faith and the fellowship it brought. As a Vestry Member and Altar Guild Director, she served with grace and commitment.
An avid lover of travel, the theatre, and movies, Dulcie spent many delightful hours enjoying the arts, often immersing herself in stories that inspired and entertained her. Her pride in her garden was equally evident; she nurtured it with the same love and care she bestowed upon her relationships. For 25 years, she was a cherished member of the Daughters of the British Empire, where she celebrated her roots and created lasting friendships.
Dulcie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman, as well as her mother, Olive; father, Walter; and brothers, Reg and Terry. She will be profoundly missed by her surviving brother, John, and sister, Cynthia, along with her daughters, Deborah and Jeanne. Dulcie was also a proud grandmother to her grandchildren, Erikka (Jake), Jeremy, and Gillian (Jerry), and great grandchildren Lochlan, Naomi, Rose, Ryan, Evan, and Ivy who brought her immense joy and pride.
Her legacy is one of love and laughter, where every interaction was treasured. Dulcie was truly loved by everyone who crossed her path. Her generous spirit and zest for life remain etched in the hearts of her family and friends, who will carry her memory forward with fondness and gratitude.
