Milton Oscar Peden, 78, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 30, 2025. Milton was born in Belzoni, MS on June 10, 1946 to the late Charlie and Bertha Bea Viars Peden. Milton was a graduate of Hamilton High School, Class of 1965. Shortly after high school, Milton enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in Korea. He married Wanda Roberts on May 17, 1967. After his service in the Air Force, Milton started work at the United States Postal Service. After a longtime career, he retired in 1993. After retirement, Milton started truck driving and also drove a tour bus for a number of years. Milton enjoyed watching football, especially Mississippi State and the New Orleans Saints. He also enjoyed tinkering in his wood working shop and gardening. Milton was a devoted Christian and was faithful to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, filling in for many ministers over the years. He was a member of Bartahatchie Baptist Church. Milton also enjoyed time with his family, sharing a special bond with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his faithful companion, Max.
Milton is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wanda Peden; daughter, Michele Kearce (Keith), Hatley; son, Oscar Peden, Athens Community; sister, Lela Payne (Hiram), Tupelo; brother, C.B. Peden (Brenda), Amory; grandchildren, Faith Kearce and Ansley Peden; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Milton is preceded in death by his brothers, Henry and Joe Peden.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Jonathan Goodin and Bro. Doug Lucas officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Beeks Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Hall, Charlie Peden, William Peden, Matthew Peden, Jordan Faris and Erick Faris. Keith Kearce will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Monday from noon until 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to St Jude of a charity of choice.
