Harold Blockman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 1, 2024.
Harold Eric Blockman left this world Friday May 31,2024. Harold was the ultimate lover of everything family. Not only to his daughter Laura, son's Justin & Josh, and of course to the love of his life, his wife Denise, but also as an advocate, advisor, mentor and friend to the numerous up and coming Realtors over the past 45 years from Knoxville to Memphis.

He lived in Knoxville, graduating from University of Tennessee and stayed on for 17 years, prior to returning to Memphis. He opened a Bagel shop in Knoxville way before bagels were cool and on his return to Memphis opened Blockman's Deli.

A Realtor Emeritus, which is a NAR designation for members who have held consecutive membership for 40 years. A true pioneer and leader in real estate, he was a trailblazer who adored the industry, the agents he worked with and the community he served.

His career at Keller Williams was a vocation for him, not just a job. He left a true legacy in real estate and the broader Memphis community,

He was a member of Baron Hirsch Synagogue and brought up in a Jewish orthodox home. He relished in his role as a father, brother, son and husband. Sometimes you meet people who you know have a truly humble soul. This was Harold Blockman. He was generous and giving with a contagious laugh.

He was dedicated to his community service tutoring at Southwind Elementary and volunteering to help kids read and write once a week , receiving the Lions Heart award from Youth Villages, Good Neighbor award and Community Service awards

He leaves behind his wife Denise Blockman, daughter Laura Blockman, Sons Josh Epperson, and Justin Epperson, his mother Hazel Blockman, sister Karen Blockman Carrier and nephews Travis and Austin Carrier.

Services will be held Monday June 3, 2024 at 1:00 p.m at Baron Hirsch Cemetery, 1523 Rozelle St, Memphis Tenn- 38106. All donations should be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and The Humane Society of Memphis.

Harold was a gem of a person and hired me in my youth at the bagelry and for catering work and he truly made a huge difference in my life and basically inspired my work ethic that got me through my turbulent youth and into a much better adulthood. I will always be so grateful that I knew him and I´ll never forget beloved Harold. Much love to his family and all friends.

Harold was a beacon of light to all who crossed his path. His laugh and voice would fill a room with cheer instantly. Howard always had a cheerful smile. I mostly saw him at the swimming pool. Invariably, he would be reading something--usually a book about real estate--but he always had time to talk. He was kind and always friendly. I know his family has many good memories of him, and I pray those memories will be a comfort to them.
