H. Robert "Bob" Altwegg, age 85 of Oak Hill, passed away Sunday, June, 1 2025.
He was born on December 17, 1939, in Junction City, the son of Herman Robert and Gladys Viona (Hanson) Altwegg.
H. Robert (Bob) attended the first 4 years of elementary school at Windsor near Upland and then completed grade school and high school at Dickinson County Community High, Chapman, Kansas.
After graduating in 1958, H. Robert attended KSU where he graduated in 1963 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Agronomy. Bob has been an active supporter of Delta Upsilon Fraternity and Educational Foundation.
Bob spent his life as a farmer-stockman in Dickinson, Clay, Ottawa and Cloud Counties.
Bob also was a commercial realtor and a commercial pilot. His hobbies included volunteer work at the Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad, Abilene, as well as snow skiing, water skiing, scuba diving, hunting, fishing and traveling.
H. Robert received two Bankers Soil Conservation Awards, one in Dickinson and one in Ottawa County. In 2010, H. Robert received the Kansas Farm Bureau Century Farm Award. As an avid conservationist, he held Senior Water Rights out of Chapman Creek and worked tirelessly to preserve the land he cherished.
Bob was a member of the F.C. Memorial Hill Wesleyan Church, now the Miltonvale Wesleyan Church. He was confirmed as a young man at the Zion Evangelical and Reform Church of rural Junction City.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat Altwegg of Oak Hill, and his daughter, Kristin of Gaithersburg, Maryland and many relatives and close friends.
Bob was a loving husband and father and a caring friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at the Miltonvale Wesleyan Church on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:30 am, with visitation starting at 9:30 am. Burial will be in the Crooked Creek Cemetery, north of Leonardville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crooked Creek Cemetery or the Delta Upsilon Fraternity at KSU and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
