Jerry Alexander Obituary

Jerry Alan Alexander, 84, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on January 11, 2024. Born on August 26, 1939, in San Saba, Texas, Jerry was a beloved father, brother, and friend. He was a well-known maintenance supervisor, having contributed to the design of the Sterling Food plant in the late 80s and served as the plant manager of Earl Campbell Foods from 1998 to 2001. Throughout his career, Jerry also worked as a consultant for various companies in the meat packing industry, including J Bar B Foods, Eddy's Packing Company, and Garcia Tamales. His expertise and knowledge made him a respected figure in the industry.

Jerry was not only known for his professional accomplishments but also for his warm and friendly personality. He was a true country boy who never met a stranger, always greeting others with a great big smile on his face. Jerry's faith in the Lord was unwavering, and he would often remind others to "keep looking up, God is still on the throne." He had a genuine interest in people and would go out of his way to ask how others were doing.

In his free time, Jerry enjoyed singing, playing bingo at the facility, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. He cherished these moments and made sure to create lasting memories with his loved ones.

Jerry is survived by his daughter Kelle Salas and husband George, sons Richard Alexander and wife Florence, Bobby Alexander, step-daughters Theresa Stewart and husband Charlie, Melinda Garza and husband Ray, step-sons Adolph Herrera and wife Patricia, Danny Ray Herrera, Christopher Herrera and wife Vanessa, brother David Alexander, sisters Judy Dudley and Karen Austin. Jerry also has 31 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucy (Lucille) C. Alexander, father J.R. Alexander, mother Nell Maxine Hughes, and brother Jimmy Dwayne Alexander.
