Karen Moak Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 1, 2023.
Karen Lee Moak, 68, of Townville, South Carolina, passed from this world on October 27, 2023, attended by her husband, Erbie Moak, her son Duane Michael Croson, and his fiancé Stephanie McCowan, after a prolonged battle with chronic illness.

Born in Washington, DC on April 2, 1955 as Karen Lee Burke; mother Norma Gay Burke and father James Franklin Burke. Survived by her two sisters Wanda and Elaine and her two brothers Michael and Steven. She grew up in Northern Virginia and developed a distinguished reputation and career in property management.

Karen was a loving daughter, mother, sister, and wife. She brought joy and love to the lives of her family and friends. She joyfully "mothered" the four legged members of her extended family, who loved her right back.

In keeping with her wishes to keep it simple, she will be cremated, and there will be no service. In honor of Karen's love for furry companions, contributions can be made to your local animal shelter. Let's ensure that her legacy continues to bring comfort to our four-legged friends.

As we bid farewell to Karen, let us remember her zest for life and her infectious smile. May her spirit continue to guide us, reminding us to embrace each day with a peace, love, and a playful spirit. Please join us in celebrating Karen's remarkable journey and keeping her memory alive in our hearts.

Yesterday was Mother's Day and my heart had a hole in it because you are not here for me to have seen your smiling face and give a big hug. They say time mends all wounds, but this is not true. I am not at all "mended" from your passing. I accept it only because life and God give me no other choice but to do so. I miss you so much! I will always love you and miss you. The only 'mending' I will ever get is knowing that you are no longer in pain and that we will be reunited again one day.

Mom, today makes one year that I have been without you, my heart is heavy. A year seems like just yesterday and yet a hundred years ago. I know you want me to carry on and not be sad. Today it is impossible for me to be happy. The only shred of hapiness I have today is thinking of something you said or the many things you did that remind me how lucky I am to be your son. I will always love you and miss you more than words could ever express.

Karen was one of the nicest people I have ever known. Always up beat and positive I was lucky to have known her. She will be greatly missed.

My favorite picture of Mom. She was just sitting at peace with herself while enjoying a book.

My deepest sympathies, the first time I met Karen was so much fun especially after all the stories I had heard. My love and sympathy to the family.
