Kathryn “Kat” Anne Tetrick, age 38, of Carmel, Indiana passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023. Kat was born November 25, 1985 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Richard and Susan (Thilman) Tetrick.
Kat was a kindergarten teacher at Eagle Creek Elementary School in Pike Township. Teaching was a true passion for her, and she taught for as long as she possibly could. She graduated from Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in education from DePauw University.
Kat was a daughter, sister, friend, and aunt. She was an avid baker, and some family favorites were her carrot cake and chocolate cake. She was an accomplished athlete playing softball from age 8 through college. She loved travel, especially enjoying beach vacations in Gulf Shores, AL and Marathon Key, FL. Kat also had an opportunity to visit Japan with her sister while her brother was there for an extended work assignment. Kat loved animals, in particular her dog Reggie and pigs, which was clear to anyone that visited her home. Her strong faith gave her comfort throughout her battle with cancer. She will be remembered by others as strong, kind, and confident.
Kat is survived by her parents, Richard Lee Tetrick Jr. and Susan Tetrick, siblings, Matthew Tetrick (Kumiko) and Anne Tetrick, and nephew Shintaro Tetrick.
The family would like to thank the staff at Community Hospital Cancer Center, especially Dr. Parshad, Clair Seefeldt, and Michelle McGovern. They would also like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice. Their care enabled her to spend her final days at home surrounded by family and friends.
A gathering to celebrate Kat’s life will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road.
