Michael H. Brooks, born on August 17, 1959, in Granville County, NC, embarked on his final journey on September 8, 2024, within the familiar embrace of the same beloved Berea community that saw him grow. As a man marked by kindness and integrity, Mike devoted his life not only to his career as a Plant Manager but also to being a steadfast pillar for his family and friends.
Mike worked for LC Industries for 15 years. He was a high school graduate whose straightforward nature and warm spirit endeared him to all who crossed his path. With a perpetual smile gracing his face, Mike was the embodiment of love and support, especially for his family, where he wore the title of "wonderful papa" with great pride. His passion for the outdoors was evident in the love for his family’s farm and their animals —creatures that brought him immense joy and were an integral part of his life. Mike had a passion for drag racing including building his race car and working towards restoration of his very first car..
Mike leaves behind a legacy enveloped in warmth, laughter, and love. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa Ellen Brooks, who stood by him through every endeavor. He leaves his legacy to his two treasured children: son, Michael Blake Brooks and daughter, Heather Nicole Brooks, his beloved grandchildren, Gavin Jernigan, Alyssa Kate Stephens, Madeline Grace Wilson, Kristianna Brooks, Paisley Mae Wilson and Whitlee Reese Wilson, who were the light of his life. They will remember him not only as a loving figure but as a source of endless fun and wisdom.
The family extends to include his beloved mother, Betty Daniel Brooks, sister, Sonya Denny, and brother-in-law, Tim Denny, alongside Samantha Denny, cherished niece and his nephews, Cole and Nick Denny. Each of this family, friends and coworkers will hold memories that reflect the many facets of Mike’s character—a man of strength and compassion, whose impact rippled through the lives of those he touched.
Mike was predeceased by his father, George E. Brooks, a loss that sharpened the love and respect instilled in his family.
A visitation will be held on September 11, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oxford, NC, followed by a funeral service officiated by Reverend Keith Williams commencing at 2:00 PM. Mike will be laid to rest in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
