Paula Diana Chapple, 83, of
Center Point, AL, was called home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2024 in the loving presence of her family in
Wilsonville, AL. Paula was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to parents' Anthony and Florence Treck. She was a third-generation citizen of European descent. She would have turned 84 on February 9, 2024. Ms Chapple is survived by her loving son, Brian Chapple, her daughter-in-law, Regina Chapple, her granddaughter, Emilie Chapple, and her sister, Leah Treck of Hawaii.
At a young age Paula attended Saint Peters Catholic School for Girls in
Staten Island, NY. As a military daughter her adolescence years were spent living and traveling in various countries including France, Guam, and throughout Asia.
Paula earned her Bachelor of Science from Wagner College, School of Nursing in June 1961. She was called to duty February 1964 to the Air Force until honorably discharged as Captain Paula D. Chapple in August 1968. Paula met Richard Chapple at Lackland military base where they were married in 1966 before moving to
Center Point, Al in 1968.
Her military associations and experience shaped her character and instilled in her a sense of duty and honor. Paula continued her nursing career by serving our fellow service men and women until she retired from the VA Hospital in
Birmingham, AL. after 30 years of dedicated service.
After retirement, the remaining years of her life were committed to being a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend. Paula was known as "Grandma Paula" not only to her only grandchild, Emilie, but to Regina's nephew, Scotty Brassel and Regina's niece, Jennifer Johnston and their children (Ryleigh Brassell, Jacen Johnston and Kaylee Johnston) as well as to many family friends.
Ms. Chapple was a nurse not only during her career but afterwards as she continued to assist those in need. Paula was always taking someone to appointments, visiting the homebound, or bringing someone a meal. There was not one family gathering that didn't require a plate for a friend on her return home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 17, 2024, at Wilsonville Baptist Church (WBC). Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M., the service at 2:00 P.M., followed by a small reception of coffee and desserts in the WBC fellowship hall.
Please join us in honoring Paula's life and legacy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Fisher House Foundation, a support group for veterans and their families. Contributions can be made at
