Rachel Moulton Obituary

Rachel Ball Moulton, age 98, of Franconia, NH, died peacefully on July 21, 2024.

Rachel was born in Franconia, attending grades 1-12 and graduating from the Dow Academy in Franconia. Rachel was married to James Moulton in 1944 for 63 years. They had two sons, Larry and Perry.

During her life, Rachel taught skiing at Canon Mountain for 11 years until 1968. She was proud of being one of only 11 certified professional instructors in New England for 9 of those years.

When her two sons were in high school, her career turned to the family retail business with the Gifts by Rae store on Littleton Main Street, which grew satellite stores bearing her name. The stores were in business in some form for 63 years. The stores were operated by her sons in later years.

Rachel enjoyed a brief social intervention when her husband worked in the Concord, NH state house for Governor Thompson in the mid-1970s. She followed politics ever since that time. In her own quiet way, she got along with everyone.

She was predeceased by her son, Perry, in 2019 and is survived by her son, Larry. She had no grandchildren.

There will be no formal services per Rachel's wishes.
