Washington City resident Maxine Hickman ,76, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, at Saint George Regional Hospital. She was accompanied on her final journey by her special teddy bear, "Truffie." Maxine was born March 5, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, to John L. Rash, Jr., and Sheila A. (Jackson) Rash. She graduated from Adams City High School, Commerce City, Colorado in 1966. She was married to Teddy D. Hickman, Sr., for more than fifty-eight years. They were married on August 19, 1966, in Brighton, Colorado. She gave birth to a daughter and two sons. The Hickman's lived in Denver, Colorado, and Cheyenne, Wyoming, beforemoving to Alaska in 1971.
She enjoyed Alaska, even the camping and fishing. They were active in square and round dance groups in Alaska for many years. The Hickman's were presenters for Marriage Encounter weekends in Alaska for several years. As much as she loved Alaska, she particularly loved their winter vacations in Hawaii. Maxine retired from her employment at the Anchorage Telephone Utility in 2006. She was a member of the IBEW Union for over forty-five years. The Hickman's then moved to their current home in Washington City, Utah in 2007. Maxine enjoyed ceramics and painting at the Senior Center and doing quilting projects with her husband.
Maxine is survived by her husband, Ted, daughter, Shelly, grandchild Siobhan, brothers Gene (Diane) Rash, Timothy Rash and Kerry (Val) Rash, several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Maxine was preceded in death by both sons, Harold (1987) and Teddy, II (2024), also her parents, and sister, Evelyn Hayes, and her beloved puppy dog, "Itsy."
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2, 2025, at 7:00 pm at the Best Western Settlers Point Hotel Venue. 1294 East Hospitality Way, Washington, Utah 84780 (Just off exit 13 from I-15).
