Scott Fandrick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 31, 2024.

Scott Michael Fandrick died suddenly on October 7th, 2024. He was born on November 11, 1972, in Topeka, Kansas, to Michael and Diane Fandrick. Scott grew up in Yucaipa California and graduated from Yucaipa High School in 1991. Scott provided endless entertainment to his family and friends. While in High School, he brought home kittens which became fond family pets. He was known to get into "noble" trouble, like on an "extended school lunch break" saving puppies from a car fire. In addition, his quick actions while he was employed at a local fast-food establishment prevented any injuries or deaths from a flash grease fire that destroyed most of the building.

Scott served as an aviation structure mechanic in the Navy and rose to the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. He served on both the USS Independence and later the USS Kitty Hawk Aircraft Carriers. He was stationed in Atusgi, Japan. While in the Navy, he was one of the rare survivors of an uncontrolled freefall of a C130 aircraft when the life rafts deployed in mid-flight entangling the rear stabilizers. The plane miraculously survived the 9000 ft fall.

After his honorable discharge, he obtained his airframes, powerplants, and F.C.C. certificates at Alameda College in California. He worked in aviation maintenance at numerous private contractors at Patuxent Naval Air Station. He later obtained his Associates and Bachelor of Science degrees in Business.

Scott married the love of his life, Kristy, in 2004 and had one daughter Kelsey.

Scott was an avid Punk rock and Heavy Metal fan. He was a classic muscle car enthusiast and an electric guitar practitioner. He was also fond of dogs and had two adorable huskies when he died. Scott also volunteered at the Calvert Marine Museum.

He is survived by his wife Kristy, daughter Kelsey, parents Michael and Diane, and three brothers; Bill (Lennie), Dan (Adrianne), Keith (Courtney). In addition, he is survived by his in-laws (Ron and Joan); brothers and sisters-in-laws; Jeff (Sally), Melissa (Dan), Laurie and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews. His stepfather (Walter Scales), grandparents, two uncles (Curtis and Lawrence), an aunt (Christina), and a cousin (Dennis) preceded him in death.
