With heavy hearts we share the passing of Steven Noel Antuna on
January 17, 2024 at the age of 70, in
Lakewood, Colorado from complications with diabetes. He was born on September 3, 1953 at Camp Stoneman Army Hospital in Pittsburg, California, and has left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
His father, Naval Officer Maurilio "Bud" Antuna (New Mexico) and mother, Naomi Antuna (Missouri) had four children: Nicholas, Margot, Steven and Paul. The family have lived in Pleasant Hill, CA since 1957.
The entire family enjoyed camping every summer near Cisco Grove, CA. Both his parents played guitars and Steven learned to play from his mother. His guitar became a lifelong part of him. He sang very well. He was so popular that in 2nd grade girls started phoning him. Steve enjoyed playing for the teens surrounding the campfire. Later in life he advanced to an acoustic 12 string guitar and was wonderful creating his own music and lyrics. He played at a few weddings, churches and any get togethers.
Steven attended Pleasant Hill High School, Pleasant Hill, CA class of 1971, where and enjoyed softball and was on the Junior Varsity Football Team. He attended a few classes at Diablo Valley College but the call of Colorado pulled him to
Lakewood, CO where he stayed.
During his first year in Colorado, Steven and two friends begin a construction company. His skills with math and intricate procedures,
helped him figure out how to effectively manage any situation that arose. His ability with math and precise cutting led to his next career choice and become a glazier. After a couple of years he became a Journeyman Glazier and he was most proud of his work at the Stapleton International Airport in Denver where he installed escalator glass railings on two and three story heights.
When the computer age started in the 1980s he jumped over to that. With his electrical, mathematical skills and abilities with intense equations he became successful. In later years he did well finding the problem with computers that didn't work.
His favorite pastime was playing golf. And played golf at many clubs across many states. His passion was his faith in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Philosophical discussions always came very easy to him and he could get into a lovely conversation with anybody, anywhere on any subject.
The love of his life is his daughter, Marisa. No one expected him to become the best Mr Mom yet he wanted to be with her every second that was possible. Steve would take her to the mall and shop with her, taught her bowling and billiards, always in a fun way. They were best friends. Whenever he tucked Marisa in at night, he made up interesting and intricate stories which sometimes lasted many nights. He attended every swimming lesson and later every Junior Olympic Team swim meet. They were adorable together. He was always so proud of her and had looked forward to walking Marisa down the aisle later this year. And he anticipated becoming a grandfather and had wondered if it would be like becoming a father again.
Steven was survived by his daughter Marisa Antuna (fianc, Vinson Ballek), Mother Naomi Antuna, Sister Margot Dodelin (Robert), Brother Paul Antuna (Katherine), Aunt Noletta Jones, Aunt Joyce Renslow, Niece Brooke Le Croy (Jason), Niece Cheryse Antuna and many cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Brother Nick Antuna, Grandparents Noel & Jessie Cox, Great Aunt Beulah "Chris" Dickerson, Aunt Trudy Lucido, Uncle Nelson Renslow, Cousins: Paula Jones, Marijane Strausbaugh, Sally Paulson and Michelle Wittkop.
Father Maurilio Antuna.
