Susan Millard Obituary

Susan Millard, 84, of Goffstown NH, beloved mother, sister, and musician went to be with the Lord today after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her brother Don and sister-in-law Judy, son Richard, a niece, and nephews. She is preceded by her sweet Carolyn with whom she is now reunited after a long separation.

Susan was born Susan Morse Chatfield in Winchester MA to George and Marie Chatfield. In 1948 the family moved to Larchmont, NY where she attended Mamaroneck Junior and Senior High School where she was part of a musical trio known as the Tri-tones with her two life-long friends Emily and Frieda. She attended Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA and later Hope College in Holland, MI where she majored in music. Susan's niece Amy and nephew Gregory are also alumni of Hope College.

She met and married Wayne Millard, settled in California and gave birth to their son Richard. She divorced and moved to Idyllwild, CA, an artist community in the San Bernadino mountains where she taught music to private students and enjoyed accompanying the singing and playing solos in various churches. Later in life she met Carolyn and moved to Corpus Christi, TX, where they resided together for 28 years and where she continued teaching music. She joined Carolyn singing in the choirs at the Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) and All Saints Episcopal Church.

While she was unable to keep them in her later years, Susan loved keeping and caring for pets and supported various animal rescue organizations.

Susan was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and had family ties to Samuel F. B. Morse.

Committal will occur in a private service at the Church of the Good Shepherd (700 S. Upper Broadway, Corpus Christi, TX, 78401). Her ashes will be interred in the columbarium at the church.
