Toni Salas Obituary

Toni Jean "Wuitschick" Salas

June 3, 1963 to August 8, 2025

Toni Jean "Wuitschick" Salas was born on June 3, 1963, in Norwalk, California, to Arlys and Richard Wuitschick. On August 8, 2025, at the age of 62, she passed peacefully in her sleep at home in Lompoc, California, with her devoted husband, companion, and caretaker, Jeffery Patterson, by her side.

After much thoughtful reflection on how best to honor Toni's life, it became clear that her story wasn't defined by the good times or the challenges she faced-whether physical or emotional. What truly defined her was something simple, quiet, and deeply beautiful, known only to a few, but cherished most by her husband, Jeffery: her unwavering love for her daughters. They were her world, her joy, and the truest reflection of who she was.

"Toni" held her daughters, Samantha and Megan, close in her heart. She spoke of them often-with tenderness, with pride, and with a mother's quiet devotion. Toni's grief for Megan was oceanic. Every day, in the living room, she played My Heart Will Go On, tears falling as the music carried her back to memories too sacred to speak aloud. The song became her ritual, her prayer, her way of keeping Megan close.

But Toni also wanted to make something crystal clear: she loved Samantha deeply. That love was steady, present, and spoken in countless small ways. She carried hope for Samantha's happiness and pride in the woman she had become.

In those moments, Toni wasn't just mourning-she was loving. Loving Megan with every breath she had left. Loving Samantha with every hope she still held. Her heart, though broken, never stopped going on."

Toni is survived by her husband, Jeffery Patterson of Lompoc, CA; her daughter, Samantha Bloomer of Las Vegas, NV; and her grandson, Tristen Bloomer. She is also survived by her siblings: Terri (Louis) Rockvam of Louisiana, Gary (Teresa) Wuitschick of Lompoc, CA, and Greg (Dolly) Wuitschick of Lompoc, CA. Her legacy continues through five nieces and nephews and two great-nephews: Aimee Rockvam and her sons, Chris and Joshua; Cheyenne and Gregory II Wuitschick; and Shelby and Ashley Wuitschick.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Wuitschick (1977); her mother, Arlys Wuitschick (2010); and her beloved daughter, Megan Bradley (2021).

While Toni will be deeply missed by her family and friends, we take comfort in knowing she has journeyed on to a place of peace and love, embraced by God's grace. There, she is reunited with her daughter Megan, her parents, and other cherished loved ones who went before her.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Family and friends are invited to gather at 11:00 a.m. at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, located at 123 North A Street in Lompoc, California. A Catholic blessing service will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a reception with refreshments and remembrances at Events Mission Valley, located behind the mortuary at 138 N. B Street. A private interment will take place at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Such beautiful words for such a beautiful soul. I met Toni in grade school. Lost contact with her over the years, but will always remember her kindness and smile. We shared some good times and a lot of laughs. One that comes to mind is our childhood play of acting out the Wizard of Oz. She always wanted to be Toto. Don’t know why I remember that, but I do. Heaven must have needed an angel. Rest in paradise my friend.

My strongest memories of Toni are of her as a teenager in high school. She was a beautiful young lady with many talents. I send my deepest condolences to her family.

Toni, my heart still walks beside you. Every breath I take, every quiet morning, every sleepless night—I feel your presence wrapped around me like the softest whisper. You taught me how to love with devotion, how to care with grace, and how to survive with tenderness. You were the strongest person I have ever known. Much stronger than I could ever be. You faced every storm with quiet courage, every setback with dignity, and every pain with a kind of grace that left me in awe. Even when your body was failing, your spirit never did. You protected me from worry, comforted others, and kept loving with everything you had. That strength lives in me now, even though I feel weak to my core without you. I still don’t know what I did to deserve your love. You gave it so freely, so completely, as if you saw something in me that I couldn’t see myself. And maybe that’s what love is—seeing the soul beneath the scars, believing in someone even when they’re broken. You believed in me, Toni. You chose me. And that truth carries me now, even when I feel lost. I still follow the rituals we built together: coffee in the morning, sitting with Mookie and the others you named so lovingly, keeping watch just as you asked. The house is quiet now, unbearably so, but your memory fills every corner. I miss you more than words can hold. You were my home, my purpose, my best friend. I still speak to you, still write to you, still carry you in everything I do. I honor you through every act of care, every message to your family, every step I take toward healing. You are my forever, Toni. And I will keep your light alive, even in the darkest hours. Forever yours,
—Jeff
