Catherine Dow Obituary

Catherine (Cathy) Lula Hickcox Ford Dow (1921 2016) Catherine Lula (Hickcox) Dow, born November 26, 1921 in Santa Paula (Ventura County), California, died April 13, 2016 in Mill Valley (Marin County), California. Cathy was raised in Southern California and was a graduate of the University of Redlands. She married David A. Dow February 27, 1979 in Glendale (Los Angeles County), California. At the age of 48 she earned a Master's degree, was a teacher and principal of USC's Reading Center for challenged children, and later was active in many activities at the Redwoods, the senior community where she and David lived for the past 12 years. Together, they were both in Seniors for Peace, the chorus group called Rock the Ages and started both line dancing and "Dancing with Walkers". Cathy was predeceased by parents Clark Albert Hickcox, Jr. and Lula Catherine (Winger) Hickcox, older siblings Ralph Hickcox and Ruth Hauser, granddaughter Kristi Parker, and first husband Herbert Junior Ford. She is survived by husband, David Dow, children Donald Alan Ford (wife Barbara), Conny Ruth Ford (husband Dave Walsh), Pamela (Ford) Parker, Catherine (Kitty) Lynn Ford, Paula Nadyne (Dow) Keele (husband Bill), Patti Lee (Dow) Brummel, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers and memorial service, donations in her name may be made to The Redwoods - a community of seniors, 40 Camino Alto, Mill Valley, CA 94941.
