Margaret 'Margie' Pogorels
Margaret 'Margie" Pogorels of Hibbing, Minn., passed away on September 14, 2024, at the Heritage Manor in Chisholm. Margie's family would like to thank all the staff at Heritage Manor for all the outstanding care and companionship that they gave our mom the last 5 years. You went out of your way to make her feel special and your kindness will never be forgotten by her family. For you became her family. Also, to Fairview Range Hospice for their compassionate and tender care.
Margaret H. Pogorels, 94 of Spudville (Hibbing), was born on April 27, 1930, the daughter of Albert and Jennie (Vessel) Turnsk. She married Frank Mlaker Sr. and after the marriage ended, she later married Tony Pogorels Sr.
Margie was a strong and independent woman. Along with raising a large, blended family, she always worked many jobs in the food industry from baking to cooking. Her last job retiring at the age of 87 was at the Sunrise Bakery and Deli. She enjoyed going to work and cherished the friendships of her co-workers. She enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren many ethnic cooking traditions. Marge was also a talented seamstress, creating and repairing many items throughout the years.
She lived in Kitzville for many years, then moved back to the family farm in Spudville where she loved and enjoyed for over 30 years. She tended to her vegetable gardens, did canning, cooked many of the Slovenian dishes, picked berries, sewed and quilted and hosted many family holidays, with polka music usually on in the background. She was adamant in feeding the deer in the winter months. Margie was a wonderful mother and a dear grandmother who loved her family deeply. If you came to her with a problem, she gave good advice.
Margie is survived by her daughter-Carolyn (Matt) Baratto of Hibbing; sons- Frank (Sharon) Mlaker of Hibbing; Warren (Betty) Mlaker of Cook; Tony (Cynthia) Pogorels of Hibbing; and Terry (Carol) Pogorels of Hibbing; Her dear brother- Henry Turnsk of Vacaville, CA; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband Tony; brother Albert Jr.; son Richard Mlaker and two stepsons Tim and Jan Pogorels.
Family graveside services were held at the family plot in the Chisholm Cemetery.
