Mary Stephenson Obituary

Mary L. Stephenson, 69, of Fort Madison, passed away at 7:46 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at Birkwood Village in Fort Madison.
She was born on July 22, 1955, in Fort Madison,  to Paul and Gerry Krogmeier Wiegand. She married John A. Stephenson on Oct. 18, 1986, in Fort Madison.
He preceded her in death on March 16, 2004. She was a vocational rehab counselor at the John Bennett Center at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison.
She was a very spiritual person and attended any church that she could over the years. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and cards and visiting with people.
Mary is survived by her mother, Gerry Wiegand of Fort Madison; four sisters, Barb (Craig) Dahlen of Duluth, MN, Sheryl Wiegand of Greeley, CO, Brenda (Thomas) Davis of Mountain Home, AR and Lori (Gary) Fritz of Des Moines; two brothers, Brian (Diane) Wiegand of Fort Madison, and Kevin (Penny) Wiegand of New Sharon; one sister in law and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, husband, mother and father-in-law, and one brother, Steve Wiegand.
A visitation was held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service immediately followed at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Jeff Metcalf officiating. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Kossuth Cemetery in Mediapolis.
A memorial has been established for P.A.W. Animal Shelter.
