Nancy Buchanan Obituary

Nancy Cecile (Castle) Buchanan was born on September 5, 1949 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto to Jean M. Rielli and Thomas S. Castle. She lived in Los Altos until she was ten, when her family moved to Morgan Hill in 1959.
She was a spirited Acorn at Live Oak high school and then attended San Jose State, where she met her husband (Greg). They had one daughter Robin whom she raised in Sacramento.
Nancy enjoyed working for almost 25 years in the Northern CA branch of Goodyear Tire and Rubber until she retired as their HR manager. In the late 90's she moved back to her childhood home in Morgan Hill to help care for her aging father and support her mother.
During this time she enjoyed reconnecting with high school friends and volunteering. She became an active Ladies of Charity and Beta Sigma Phi member. She always felt it was important to help those in need and she taught her grandchildren this at a young age. A special tradition with her grandchildren was visiting Morgan Hill's rest homes at Christmas to hand-deliver individually wrapped presents. She loved having her grandchildren nearby, and one of her greatest joys was cheering them on at their many sporting events.
In May of 2020, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and fought hard with chemotherapy treatments during the pandemic. She kept battling thanks to the support of family and friends. She is particularly grateful to her nieces who elevated her care every step of the way.
She leaves behind her daughter Robin, son in law Ray, three granddaughters Ashley, Morgan and Charlotte, her brothers Jamie and Michael, nieces Stephanie (Mary) & Christine, nephew Christopher (Jenny), and grand nephew Conrad, beloved dog Mickey and her mother's dog, Pepper, and numerous friends that she considered family. We will miss her dearly. There will be a celebration of her life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please do something kind to help someone in need.

Nancy is missed everyday . She had the biggest heart , and the biggest laugh to go with that heart ! It just seems so unfair that a person so full of life had to leave this life so soon. I do know though , that she's lighting up Heaven !!!

Such a sweet, lovely person who was the best grandmother we know. We loved sitting with her as we cheered on our granddaughters when they played sports. We were so grateful that she could be with our grandchildren when we could not. She was a blessing to all who knew her.

Nancy, such a beautiful person inside and out. I have long admired my friend since 8 th grade. A kind an accepting friend then and throughout her life. May memories of her fill the sadness of losing her .

It is so hard to tell Nancy goodbye. She loved life , and her family so much . No one fought harder than she did , for a little bit more time with them .
My trips back home will never be the same . I will miss her kind heart and I will especially miss her wonderful laugh . We had a lot of fun together , she was a dear friend .
