CALEDONIA - Marvin R. Bishop, age 92, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at his home.
Marvin was born on August 27, 2024, on Yankee Street in Morrow County to Michael Reed and Vena Opal (McDonald) Bishop.
He graduated from Chesterville High School as President of his class. On December 14, 1952, he married Janet Burggraf, and together they have shared 72 years of love and memories.
In 1955, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Kitzingen, Germany. Upon returning from the service, he worked at the Huber Company in Marion, the Hycom Corporation in Galion, and the State of Ohio Department of Youth Services.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Janet; four children: Dianne (Doug) Carey, Phillip Bishop, (Susan), Lowell (Kathy) Bishop and Denise (Gary) Smith; eight grandchildren: Stephanie Kirkum, Austin (Sarah) Carey, Steven Smith, Matthew Smith, Ben Smith, Sarah (Ashley) McKeltar, Michael Bishop, and Emily Bishop; three great grandchildren: Sean Carey, Eliza Carey and Greyson McKeltar.
He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Vena Bishop; three sisters: Helen Pinyerd, Mildred Bachelder, and Ruth Bishop.
Marvin's family will greet friends and family on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 11 - 12 PM at Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead, 67 N Main Street. A funeral service will begin at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
