MARENGO - Sandra Fields, 82, of Marengo, Ohio peacefully passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Sandra was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on September 17, 1942, to her parents Ralph and Dorothy Mae (Mays) Curtiss. Sandra graduated from Clay Highschool. She went on to build a life as a mother to 5 kids and a health care aide, finding her calling in hospice.
To cherish her memory, Sandra leaves her sons Scott (Christina) Fields and David Fields; daughters Vicki (James Smith) Fields, Andrea Fields, and Angela (Steve Baucum) Miller; sisters Rhonda Gale Moore and Sue McCleese; grandchildren Linda (Justin White) Fields, Jeffery Fields, and Ethan Fields; and her great grandson Hunter Fields. In the eternal rest of heaven, Sandra joins her parents Ralph and Dorothy Mae Curtiss; brothers Patrick, Mike and John Curtiss; sister Judy Hall; and her son-in-law Scott Pierce. She will be dearly missed.
Sandra was a loving and angelic person. Her demeanor and aura were magnetic to those looking for spiritual comfort and emotional reassurance. These qualities made her uniquely gifted in the hospice profession. She braved the heaviness with ease where others shy away from those in most need of help. This vocation was a corporal work of mercy that Sandra shouldered with joy.
Sandra was a Baptist and loved God and Jesus Christ with all her soul. She faithfully watched church on TV. She set household rules for her kids that were well observed in order to keep church broadcast times sober and sacred. Her favorite pastor was Joyce Meyers. Sandra admired the kinship she felt with Joyce considering the mountains they both had to overcome in their lives.
Sandra was very strong and independent. She was industrious, never shying from demanding work and sacrificed much for herself in order to ensure her family never had to go without. She loved her family dearly, second to only God. In turn, she was loved just as deeply.
Sandra loved to put together puzzles and to bake. She was affectionately known as the cookie lady, always making sure any shindig or get together was well supplied with her cookies. She collected angel figurines and loved to read spiritual books, especially The Bible. She never tired of The Word of God and though her loss leaves an unfillable chasm in the lives of those that loved her, she is finally in the arms of The Lord, where she has lived her life hoping to be.
Arrangements were made with Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel in Sunbury, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, October 24 from 10-12. A funeral ceremony will be officiated by Pr. Rick Presley at noon, immediately followed by a procession to Marengo Cemetery for a graveside service and burial. All are welcome to attend.
