Sarah Treat Obituary

Sarah (Sally) A. Treat, 86, a resident of Manchester, passed away March 16, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. Sally was born in Granville, NY on February 16, 1938, the daughter of the late John Holmes and Beatrice (Loomis) Andrus of Pawlet, Vermont. Sally was the loving and devoted wife for over 62 years to Robert (Bob) E. Treat and an amazing mother of 5 children. She was passionate about spending time with her family, and proud of her children and grandchildren. She received a degree in biology from Syracuse University and was a high school biology teacher prior to having children. She worked with Bob at Green Mountain Veterinary Hospital for many years after her children were grown. Sally was civic minded and served her community in many different ways. She was a Cub Scout den mother, a Girl Scout leader and a Sunday school teacher. She served on the Manchester Select Board and was a member of the Manchester Transportation Initiative Committee. She was a member of the Monday Club, on the board of directors for NAMI-VT, and played in the Burr and Burton Jazz Band for several years. In her free time, she could be found gardening, hiking, boating, cross country skiing, baking, cooking, traveling and spending time at the family camp in Wells, Vermont. Sally is survived by her husband Robert E. Treat of Manchester, her children, Karen Treat Giger (Peter) of Lancaster, MA, Robert E. Treat, Jr., (Shelley) of Winhall, Stephen Treat (Mariana) of Fort Collins, CO, Daniel Treat of Burlington, VT, Thomas Treat (Natalie) of Salisbury, MA and her grandchildren Sarah, Carson, Justin (Heather), Lindsey, Gabriel, Noah, Nicholas, Ashley, Lauren and Julia. The family would like to thank At Home Senior Care and VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region for their excellent care and support. A celebration of life for Sally will be held Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 from 4-6pm at Brewster-Shea Funeral Home 34 Park Place, Manchester Center, VT. I worked at Green Mtn Veterinary Hospital for several yrs for Bob, Sally and Rob. Their whole family are the nicest, most caring people anyone could know and work for. Sally was a firecracker in the office! When I left in 2005 she was still on the office.
She was so pleasant to talk to and a walking encyclopedia of vet practice administration. I'm sure she will be missed by all who know and or worked for her. My condolences to Bob, Rob, Shelley and the rest of the family.
