Edward Alexander Obituary

On Friday, October 3rd, Herndon Alexander transitioned from his earthly body peacefully with the love of his family and friends by his side.
Herndon is survived by his son, Edward Herndon Alexander III (Ed), his daughter-in-law Alexa, Theresa and a large cadre of close friends. His cousin, Johnny Mc (John McKnitt) Alexander and wife Susan and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, E. H. Alexander (Mr. Alex), Hannah Townsend Alexander and his three sisters (Ann, Pat & Jane).
He was involved in leadership roles in life ranging from his church (Red Springs Presbyterian) to Rotary, to local Government and as a Mason. Alex served as District Governor for Rotary 1987-88 (his father also served as a District Governor). As a church leader he served as both a Deacon and an Elder. In Government, he was a long time Town Council member and became the State President of the NC League of Municipalities. Perhaps Alex's proudest accomplishment came as the Master of Lodge #501, where he also served for more than 5 years as Secretary of the Lodge. He served as an active Mason for 51 years.
All in all, he will be remembered as being well mannered and polite to a fault, always seeking to be kind to his friends and family while doing the quite work of a leader.
We are sure he is already seeking a meeting to attend or someone to befriend.
His service will be Saturday, October 18th at 11:00 AM in the Red Springs Presbyterian Church.
