AILEEN'S JOURNEY
Aileen "Squirt" Green was born in Salisbury, Maryland on Friday, August 3, 1962, to the late Elwood Mathis, Sr. and Betty Ann Stevens. She entered heaven's gates on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
Aileen attended P.S. 176 The Ovington School during her formative years. She later graduated from Wilfred Academy in Manhattan, New York.
Squirt, as she was known to many, was a loving wife, aunt, sister, godmother, and friend. Furthermore, she was an exceptional cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her friends and family. For many years she served as the Head Cook of Daytons Family Restaurant in Salisbury, Maryland. Before succumbing to her illness, she was employed by Watson-Marlow Flow Smart, Inc. serving in the production department as a technology specialist in manufacturing.
Squirt enjoyed traveling, especially on the truck with her husband Larry. She also loved making flower arrangements and decorating. She found great pleasure in checking off places to go and things to do on her bucket list. But most of all, spending time with her family and friends is what really mattered. Oh! And let's not forget about how lucky she was with lottery scratch-offs and her love for The Dallas Cowboys!
She leaves to cherish her memory: a beloved husband, Larry Green; two stepsons, Larry Green, Jr. (Allison) of Winston Salem, North Carolina and Allen Green (Alexandria) of Montgomery, Alabama; four sisters, Wilhelmina White of Salisbury, Maryland, Gloria Hall (Robert) of Salisbury, Maryland, Simone Brittingham-Thompson (Valentino) of Bridgeton, New Jersey and Nicole Mathis of Wilmington, Delaware; three brothers, Patrick Nelson (Virginia) of Seaford, Delaware, Elwood Mathis, Jr. (Nancy) of Seaford, Delaware and Eugene Curtis of Delmar, Delaware; seven step-grand children; fifteen nieces and nephews; twenty great nieces and nephews; sixteen great great nieces and nephews; one Godson and a host of other special relatives and fond friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Ann Stevens, father, Elwood Mathis, Sr., siblings, Shari "Pumpkin" Hall and Keith White, nephew, Terrell "Rayz" McCarden and great nephew, Tyreic Hemphill.
